My name is Neil I. Luna. Today is Thursday, 13 October 2011 and I'm starting a blog.
Someday, I will retire to work on my farm while writing a book, and hopefully, books about my interests - irrigation, fountain systems, farming, etc. I believe that the only thing I can leave behind that people cannot misuse, abuse, squander or fight among themselves, is an organized set of knowledge, or better still, an IDEA or at least the formation/making of an idea.
The problem is, that "someday" may never come. I may never reach retirement. I could get sick or die any day - even tomorrow. That's why I'm making this blog. Maayo na lang ni kaysa wala.
I hope to write a lot in this blog - any topic or subject that will be a product of my constant ruminations. Whatever the topic, the setting will be my farm and the icon will be this beautiful river close to it. They called it Mal.
The clear waters of Mal River passes through my farm. This is the main reason why I was attracted to the place and bought the small 5-ha farm lot in 2007.
It started with a small dam...
which diverted the water to a concrete lined canal...
and then through a tunnel...
and a large sluice gate to divert some waters to Bgy. Savoy...
and finally, a main canal through my farm.
All the water I will ever need to farm - courtesy of the government. It probably took tens of millions of pesos to build that dam, the diversion canal and the control structures and I did not pay for it. Sometimes, taxpayers like me can get lucky, very lucky.
Here's my farm back in 2007.
Hmmm... not exactly a farm..
After a few years, some structures were added and minor improvements made. But even if nothing has changed, it would still be enjoyable as a weekly retreat - even if just to fire my guns :).
